Three brothers hacked to death over a sand business dispute in Madaripur.
Ajker khobor: It is a sad and gruesome incident. It was a row over the trade of sand which led to the gruesome killing of three brothers by their rivals in Madaripur.
The attackers struck around 11 AM today (Saturday) near Sardar Bari area of Khoajpur Union of Sadar Upazila. Two others were left badly injured.

Ataur and Saiful were the sons of Ajibor Sardar of Sardar Bari locality, Khoajpur Union. Saiful was also Organizing Secretary of Khoajpur Union Volunteer League. Palash was the son of Mujam Sardar from the same locality.
During the attack, the attackers also vandalized and looted their house and then burned it down. This has created a tense situation in the area. The two seriously injured victims are Tajel Howlader (18) and Alil Sardar (40).

A fresh altercation broke out between two families regarding sand mining in the Khoajpur Tekarhat area of Sadar Upazila, using sticks and other implements, according to police and local sources. Following this altercation, Sardar Bari was attacked by the Molla family members on Saturday morning with local implements.
In a bid to evade the attack, Saiful and his two brothers took refuge inside a mosque located in front of their house. The attackers moved into the mosque, however, and hacked the three brothers savagely. When others tried to rescue them, two others were injured. After the attack, the attackers looted and plundered Ataur and Saiful’s home, torched it, and fled.
When the news came, police officials arrived at the spot and recovered Ataur and Saiful’s bodies and sent them to the Madaripur 250-bed district hospital morgue at around 11:30 AM. Local residents in the meantime dragged the injured individuals to safety and took them to the district hospital. Palash died later during transit to Dhaka for further treatment.
Dr. Nahida Akter, a medical officer of Madaripur’s 250-bed district hospital, told *topnenews* that two of the victims were taken to the hospital dead. Three others were critical, all having deep wounds caused by sharp weapons. They were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as they were in a very critical condition.
Ajker khobor: Ataur Sardar’s wife, Mahamuda Begum, visited the hospital with her husband and brother-in-law’s bodies. She was crying, and speaking to topnews23 What was my husband’s fault? He used to assist everyone in the area. Shajahan Molla, Hasan Sardar, and Hossain Sardar killed my husband and brother-in-law. They burnt our house. Where do I have to go? I demand death penalty for the killers.
Rozina Begum, the victim’s elder sister-in-law, asserted,
The Molla family attacked us unexpectedly. They hacked my husband and two brothers-in-law. My two brothers-in-law are dead. My husband is critical. Everything is lost.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration & Finance) of Madaripur Bhaskar Saha told *Topnews23* at 1:30 PM, Saiful had beaten two local sand traders in the locality with a hammer to shatter their legs. Those sand traders and some other influential members in retaliation gathered together and attacked Saiful brothers. The three brothers tried to flee by taking shelter in a nearby mosque, but the attackers followed them inside and hacked them mercilessly. Saiful and one of his brothers were killed instantly. When the news reached the police and the army, they arrived at the scene and normalized the situation. Two suspects have been arrested, and police operations are underway to arrest the other attackers.
Ajker khobor: In the late afternoon, Bhaskar Saha further stated, I have heard that another victim died after he was brought to Dhaka. But the police have not received any formal word from the family of the victim so far. The first two victims have been identified as biological brothers.
